Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, Sofitel Hotel, Manila

Today, Ray Allas hosted a lunch for me at the posh Spiral Restaurant at the Sofitel Hotel (formerly the Philippine Plaza Hotel) in front of the Cultural Center on Roxas Blvd.

Ray Allas was a classmate in 7-D under Mr. Jesus Palma at the Ateneo Grade School. He was an honor student and also the class beadle. I believe he left Ateneo after grade school, but has kept in touch with Baby Boy and a few other classmates. I had not seen Ray Allas since grade school.

In addition to Ray, Baby Boy and myself, the other Luxids who showed up for lunch were a veritable rogues’s gallery—Manuel “Boy” Favis, Atty. Vic Velasquez, Dr. Col. Juan Pablo Nanagas, Babes Oreta, Conrad Cuesta, Pol Asuncion and Ray Panlilio.

The food was great, the ambiance classy, the company warm and the conversation stimulating. It was a great welcome party for me. Thanks, Ray. It was great seeing you after all these years.
